Fan Blade for Cooling Satsop Nuclear Power Plant, Elma, WA. The Plant was never finished; The Blades were purchased by Jill Drllevitch, bladesofchange.com before they made it landfill. She has given them to artists to use as a blank Canvas. I chose to use the theme of turning swords into plow shares… A youth on one side, an elder on the other, gazing into A WORLD OF BEAUTY AND POSSIBILITY.
The blade itself is made of fiberglass, is 6’ tall, 4’ wide, and 4”deep. It is hollow and weights app. 200 pounds. The base is made of steel, designed by me and fabricated by Patrick Nelson of Irish Steel. It adds another 50 pounds.
